Ruth. I was saddened to learn of Donnie's passing. Although it has been a number of years since we worked together at the bank I have many fond memories of those days. Donnie was more than a boss to me, he was a real friend. I still tell stories about some of our work adventures, such as the time we drove a repo back from Texas and stopped in New Orleans to attend a Clemson football game. Sylvia and I have you and your family in our prayers.

Donnie and Ruth lived in our neighborhood where the children grew up together. An idyllic neighborhood of the 80’s. David and I also played tennis with Donnie and Ruth. Both were so much fun - nice people, funny and good parents. We all moved on but the memories are fresh. Our condolences to Ruth and the family. I’m sure his presence was large.

I am glad I got to meet Donnie (and Ruth) at the Rec Center in Central, SC a few yrs. ago. I watched Donnie help many of the older people with their chairs after we finished exercising. I thought, What a kind man. He usually wore Clemson T-shirt's and had a friendly, smiling demeanor. Visiting at their home one day I watched Donnie caring for his very old dog Abby. Again I witnessed a very loving, kind man. This little community of Clemson/Seneca/Central are blessed to have Donnie & Ruth Abercrombie. I am thankful for both of them.
My prayers will continue for Ruth and their family. ❤ Sincerely, Sissy Rayburn

Donnie and I have worked and known each other since 1971. For 4 years we worked together in Greenville, and 5 years in Orangeburg both at C & S National Bank. From there we went separate ways, but always styed in touch by phone. During those years we played softball, tennis, golf, and fished together. After retiring, Donnie and Ruth moved to Clemson and Donnie and I got back together at Clemson baseball and
football games. This past Sunday I was crushed when I learned of his passing. He was a great co-worker, and especially a friend who I dearly loved. He will be missed by me but never forgotten. I could write many more things about our sports outings together, but it would take too many pages to complete. Donnie I will see you again in Heaven.

I first met Donnie in 1971 at C&S National Bank, Greenville SC, when both of us started our career in banking. We worked together there for 4 years and then both of us were transferred to Orangeburg SC for our next 5 years together. During those nine years we played softball, tennis, golf, and fished together many times. In fact I have so many memories of those outings that it would take too many pages to tell you about them. Bottom line, we had many great times together. After Orangeburg, we went different ways in our career, but we always stayed in touch with each other by phone. Then several yeas ago Donnie and Ruth moved back upstate to Clemson and Donnie and I again got back together for Clemson football and baseball. It breaks my heart that now we will have on more in person or cell phone contact together. I will , however, have many memories of Donnie to cherish forever. He was a great friend and loved him as a friend. Barry Aughtry
